Design Operation: Addition-Inflate, Addition-Nest
🗂️ The Millennium Dome is a landmark building constructed in the UK to celebrate the millennium. It was designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership and is now known as The O2. The most distinctive feature of the building is its huge dome structure, with a diameter of 365 meters, symbolizing every single day of the year. The dome is supported by 12 yellow supporting towers, each 100 meters high, representing the 12 months of the year. This building utilizes advanced tensioned membrane structure, using glass fiber membrane material coated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is both lightweight and has excellent resistance to wind and rain. The design of the Millennium Dome not only emphasized commemoration and symbolism, but also showcased innovative architectural technology. The space beneath the dome is a multi-functional exhibition and entertainment center, originally used for the millennium celebration in 2000 and later transformed into a major venue for music, entertainment and sports. The design concept focused on the lightness and environmental friendliness of the building, and the flexibility of the dome structure allowed for large-scale interior space arrangements, making it one of the largest indoor entertainment venues in the world.
