Design Operation: Addition-Extrude
🗂️ The building covers an area of 130 square meters and integrates offices, exhibition spaces and a training center. The space is covered by a magnificent large dome, which is composed of 225 unique wooden panels and has a span of 8 meters. The dome elegantly rises from the central column and naturally integrates into the roof structure. The 3,200 Rothoblaas screw holes in the project are all based on a parametric design model and are precisely pre-drilled by robots. This is the first project to showcase the scalability of industrial robot manufacturing technology on a building scale. The unique shape of the vault is derived from the digital form-finding method, which has been optimized to form a purely compressive structure. The design team transformed this double-curved surface structure into a triangular wood panel system, with the panels connected using finger-jointing and screws. All the robot manufacturing instructions were directly generated from the digital model, enabling complex processes (such as the beveling of panel edges and the drilling of screw connection holes) to be completed precisely within a short period of time.
### Space ### Materiality ### Construction Process ### Drawings ### Further Reading Skilled In Office
