Design Operation: Addition-Nest
🗂️ The Montreal Biosphere is a landmark spherical structure building designed by the renowned architect Buckminster Fuller. It was originally the American Pavilion at the 1967 Montreal World Expo. Its spherical geometric design is made of steel structure and transparent acrylic panels, adopting Fuller's signature "shell structure", demonstrating the potential of lightweight structural systems. This design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also has excellent wind resistance and load-bearing capabilities, embodying Fuller's "do more with less" philosophy. The building is 62 meters tall and is composed of hundreds of triangular units, presenting a visual effect resembling a honeycomb. Although the acrylic panels were destroyed by fire in 1976, the steel frame structure was preserved and was transformed into an environmental museum with a focus on environmental protection and sustainability. Today, the Montreal Eco-Center is not only a classic case in architectural history but also a landmark for environmental education. The architectural and environmental themes blend together here, attracting a large number of tourists and scholars.
### Architecture + Context ### interior Space ### Construction Process ### Drawings Floor plan - Reproduction version of student Jiaxu Wu Floor plan - Reproduction version of student Jiaxu Wu Floor plan - Reproduction version of student Jiaxu Wu ### Further Reading https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&app=desktop&v=7steYoJjW2A&ab_channel=For91DaysTravelBlog
