Design Operation: Displacement-Twist
🗂️ The West Fest Pavilion is conceived as a temporary structure housing an integrated bar, serving major public events in the canton of Zurich. The wooden structure is composed of 16 twisted components, crafted from 372 wooden slats. The overall structure ingeniously integrates the functions of architectural support, roof, and skin. Digital-controlled robots precisely cut and placed the wooden slats according to algorithmic patterns, completing the fabrication of each component. Each component undergoes a unique rotation treatment, creating subtle spatial variations. The opening design, curvature changes, and aesthetic details strictly adhere to the construction principles of the wooden structure. This digital processing approach endows traditional wood with a brand-new form of expression.
### Space ### Meteriality ### Design Process
