🗂️ The Louvre Pyramid was designed by the renowned architect Ieoh Ming Pei and serves as the iconic entrance structure of the Louvre. This building consists of a modern pyramid structure made of glass and steel, creating a stark contrast with the surrounding historical buildings and demonstrating the integration of tradition and modernity. The pyramid is 21.6 meters tall, with a base side length of 35.4 meters. It is composed of 673 glass panels, which are transparent and bright, giving the building a light and airy feel. The core of architectural design lies in the combination of function and form. The pyramid is not only a visual focal point but also solves the problem of the increasing tourist flow at the Louvre, optimizing the entrance layout of the museum. Through the pyramid, visitors can enter from the well-lit ground to the spacious underground hall. The streamlined space design improves the visiting experience. By means of this contrastive design, Ieoh Ming Pei endowed this historical city of Paris with a landmark building that respects tradition while being modern in style.
### Architecture + Context ### Interior Space ### Construction Proces ### Drawings ### Further Reading The Louvre Pyramid / I.M.Pei | Classics On Architecture Lab - ArchitectureLab The Louvre pyramids revisited
