This building not only provides painting spaces for the students of the art university, but also aims to celebrate the activity of painting itself. Cook believes that painting is a catalyst for thinking, capable of stimulating creativity and inspiration. Therefore, in his design, he pays attention to the use of light to create an environment suitable for painting. The interior of the building adopts four different light sources, namely north light, rear skylight, soft light under the east bench, and gradually changing light at the entrance. These design elements together create a serene and inspiring atmosphere, allowing students to find a peaceful place in the busy art campus. The streamlined design of the exterior and the bright blue color not only make it visually striking but also symbolize innovation and vitality, reflecting Cook's unique understanding of architectural aesthetics and functionality. Furthermore, the art studio at Bournemouth University, as the first independent building in the UK specifically dedicated to painting, represents a re-examination and innovation of the traditional form of art education. Through this project, Cook not only provided students with a practical learning space, but also set new standards for future art education, emphasizing the importance of painting in various artistic creations. </aside> ### Architecture + Context ### Interior Space ### Construction Process ### Drawings ### Further Reading Professor Sir Peter Cook and Professor Sir Christopher Frayling on AUB's Drawing Studio
