Its aim is to bring greenery and a humanized scale back to the Zuidas area in Amsterdam. The architectural form is inspired by the dramatic and dynamic terrain, and the exterior features smooth mirror glass, integrating with the commercial area environment. The interior, on the other hand, presents a more natural form and texture, as if the jagged rock surface is revealed after the glass blocks break. The design and construction of the building was completely customized, requiring continuous input from designers, engineers, constructors and consultants. The technical experts of MVRDV created a series of customized digital tools to ensure that each apartment enjoys sufficient natural light and views, and programmed the random arrangement calculation of 40,000 stone bricks of different sizes on the building facade. Each apartment unit has a unique floor plan, completed by Heyligers Architects. The landscape design of Valley was created by Piet Oudolf, with approximately 13,500 plants being planted, including 271 young trees and shrubs, representing 220 different plant species. The greenery of the building not only provides a green living environment for residents, but also offers habitats for birds, bats and insects. Valley combines sustainability, technology and health experiences. Its overall energy performance exceeds the local regulations by 30%, and it has received the BREEAM-NL excellence certification. </aside> 效果图 MVRDV | Valley tops out in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district | 2015
